Face ID + surveillance algorithms that suss out your political leanings, yeah…it’s gonna get super ugly for us out there, with traffic stops and every other situation where we might have to deal with The Party’s representatives having the Papi Orale Shirt and I love this potential to go very sideways. Still waiting for the 2nd Amendment people to swoop in and save us from all the tyranny. Maybe we should tell them that their face scans will be used to make fraudulent votes for a liberal politician. Now that might scare them. They are wielding the power of The State. It’s The State that has ramped up surveillance like this over the last 20 years – with 9/11 as the primary justification. I mean… you’re required to carry a card with your name and photo on it, that the officer uses to visually match with the card. So there are two possibilities:

Your face matches the Papi Orale Shirt and I love this face on the card. It’s you. The ID is legit. Your name and face area already known to the state. Scanning you isn’t adding anything they don’t already know. It doesn’t give them power to surveil you in any way they don’t already have. They can already search their databases with your ID photo, or by your name. So the Orwellian overtones of articles like these and the frightened reactions to them (see this thread) are decades too late. This is the world you already live in. Your face doesn’t match the face on the card, or the name on the card isn’t really yours. It’s not you. The ID is fake. Finding you in their database by face is a means of determining that. This part is new. Is it scary? If you’ve got a fake ID.

1. Length is measured from the highest point on the collar down to the bottom hem. 2. Width is measured across the body of the shirt under the armpits, one way. 3. Sleeves are measured from center back to hem.
