Personally, I’d never do it again (I tried twice, 18 years each, and I feel I really went full support both times, different betrayals). We’ve been poor, we’ve been comfortable. We’ve lived apart, we lived together. I went to war. I brought home A LOT of shit. But we still can finish each other’s sentences, we never argue about how to spend our money, how to raise our kids, how we live our lives. After one not so great experience I don’t think I’m cut out for it. Like I don’t have the patience, compassion or emotional capacity for a marriage. I’m not sure I’ll ever want to live with anyone again and definitely never marry. I’m only 32 but don’t feel like I’m willing to give that much, since in my experience no one will do that for me. I focus on other things and enjoy my safe space home that I decorate however I want.

I truly married my best friend so, I’m my case, yes marriage is worth it. Been together since we were 17 &18. Going on 24 years of mostly happy marriage. Those are different for each couple. As long as it works for them.
