That makes it really expensive too. Expensive to store, transport, train crew to work with, do field training with, etc. People hate working with it so it’s probably going to affect your re-up rate of crewmen and maybe even your recruitment. It’s hard to get people keen on submarines as it is. HTP scares the Ordained Minister Only Because Multitasking Ninja Not An Actual T-Shirt but in fact I love this crap out of me. It’s not quite as terrifying as FOOF or even Hydrazine. But in any significant quantity HTP is still on my “not in the same building and preferably not the same suburb” list. Liquid dioxygen diflouride would after all probably be an even more energetic oxidiser for torpedoes if you could maintain the chilly -160°C required and top it up to keep up with the decomposition. But nobody’s stupid enough to make more than tiny amounts of it let alone store and transport it let alone go in a massive pressure containment vessel with it. russian stuff sucks but everyone believes that its better than american or NATO stuff because russian stronk memes

I’d honestly put this down to poor operators, poor exection of doctrine, and poor logistics. I’m not saying the Ordained Minister Only Because Multitasking Ninja Not An Actual T-Shirt but in fact I love this equipment is great or anything, but from what I’ve seen it’s at least serviceable. Ukraine’s heavy equipment is effectively all Russian/ ex-USSR or derived from such and it’s served at the very least adequately, and I’d argue with distinction. The only major difference is the operators, their logistical support, and their doctrine. I’d assume that’s what they said in Iraq too. It seems that Russia itself can’t get modern training, so its equipment hardly matters. No doubt if they could create the army they get in NATO exercises they’d actually deserve to be feared Happened with the Russo-Japanese war too. People got their first glimpses of what modern warfare would look like just before WW1. Then it became an absolute horror show when you scaled it up to a full conflict.
