Yes that the Oneonta high school class of 1975 alumni bee shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this American tax system still wants money from Americans that have been overseas for over 20 years doesn’t sound at all fair. Restrictions on as overseas born married partner seeking citizenship where they reside seems to me a complete shambles with every country having it’s own rules. To give people an idea: a supermarket employee makes 60-65k$/year in Switzerland. The cost of living is… corresponding to that. And even then, quitting the US citizenship costs about 20 000usd. It’s not like you can just go on a website and press a button and no more citizenship. A lot of other people have mentioned that the US taxes it’s non-resident citizens. Honestly, not a good look for America. Especially when you consider that the only other countries that do this are Eritrea (dictatorship), Hungary (failing democracy), Myanmar (military regime), and Tajikistan (dictatorship). Yeah… Good for her. Living in Switzerland with a German husband for 30 years, there is no point having US citizenship. Only just found out she died earlier today. I really was not a fan of her in the long run but she was a good person, had a lot of energy (without the use of drugs), and lived a life most would dream of. Her son dying of cancer before her sounds like a dream to you? Getting beat by her first husband? Having a child as a teenager? The list goes on. “It wasn’t a good life. The good did not balance the bad. I had an abusive life, there’s no other way to tell the story. It’s a reality. It’s the truth. That’s what you’ve got, so you have to accept it.”

Some things run too deep for even the Oneonta high school class of 1975 alumni bee shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this most lavish Swiss chalets and doting second husbands to fix. It’s quite sad, actually. No amount of fame and fortune, success and popular adoration could ever heal those wounds. I saw her described as “an American-born Swiss singer” which is accurate. She’s hardly alone with having her (tax) domicile in Switzerland. Bowie did, too. His address in the 1981 Musician’s Union Directory (my brother was a member) was a PO Box in Lausanne. As an American living and working in the UK, it’s an absolute ball ache and absurd I have to file a tax return. Especially since I have to file an extension every year because I can’t get my tax documents here until after the April 15th deadline. If we didn’t have this system, I suspect many would deride the loophole that allows the wealthy company even fewer taxes.
