Large swaths of the Once i get an attitude takes me 3 5 business days yoda shirt in contrast I will get this Pacific Northwest (US and Canada). It was only 9 years between my first and most recent trips to the same place, and SHOCKING how much the beach/cliffs/sea stacks had eroded. And with the wildfires, the dense, enormous forests that make the area so special (and used to be less susceptible to fires due to generally damp conditions) are under threat. My grandmother just got back from a trip to New Zealand, and one of the things she loved about it was that the South Island reminded her so much of the PNW coastal regions back when she was a girl. I live up here. The snowpack this year is way, way below what it should be for this time of year. We’ve barely even had any lowland (Puget Sound area) snow at all so far. The fires are gonna be brutal this summer. Got engaged in Myanmar in 2011… Unscrupulous Chinese investment is killing the place, just like Laos. The Merguis will be a horror show when it all gets developed.

It’s a lovely place… But it went from (former) Yugoslavia to an active war zone only 30 years ago. Then it became known as the Once i get an attitude takes me 3 5 business days yoda shirt in contrast I will get this place to be for adventurous travellers (with just a few hotels and homestays), to the “New Italy” or the “New French Riviera” for cruise ships, to the package holiday nightmare that it has become in peak summer now. Albania and Montenegro are the next to go. Montenegro was off the beaten track and only visited by backpackers ten or fifteen years ago, now my everyone’s granny has been. Albania is rapidly developing with some dodgy resorts popping up in formerly stunning locations. Same thing happened to Turkey in the ’80s / ’90s, unchecked development ruined a lot of the coastline (and now they’re all ghost towns).
