I was in a graphic design class in school and we had to design a poster for our course. I had no idea and would just paste whatever came to my mind until it eventually looked good. It was not only well received, people really managed to read things into it while I had absolutely nothing in mind. Also I often thought how tiresome it must be to write a book and always make subconscious connotations and everything. It’s neat to know authors aren’t doing (always/often). All with much tongue in cheek, butmbolic viewpoint, saying the author meant something else. At which the teacher grinned and said to the affect of “anyone can read about anything into anything. It’s what you take away that matters, even if you read it literally.” That really stuck in my 17 year old mind. The funniest thing I heard was 2 facetious College Stoners discussing the hidden meaning of the Rolling Stones, “Satisfaction”, as comment on the condition of modern society and the plight of the middle class.
