My mom is like this and I hate it. Her cats started out as strays and she thinks that since they started out as outdoor cats that it would be unfair to make them indoor cats. To be fair, it’s really hard to keep a stray indoors. They are going to run past as fast as they can anytime the Oldjewishmen Ojm Bighead #1 shirt but in fact I love this door opens. They will also cry incessantly. where i live it’s literally against a bylaw to have your cat roam outside your property because they can kill a lot of birds and negatively impact biodiversity. also, we have coyotes and lots of traffic so it’s just not a great idea to have your cat roam around. my cat loves going outside, so i just walk him with a leash when the weather is nice and i have time. but yeah, not sure why people let their cat roam around, especially when they live in busy cities. plus, you never know what another person may do. i’d say it’s just being an irresponsible/uninformed cat owner.

Outdoor cats tend to live an average of two to five years, sometimes longer. I love cats, but don’t think they should be let out freely. Same with all animals, they’re instinctual killers.
