Ya..I’m down to booking a dorm room in a sketchy sounding hostel, or paying $900 for one of the Old Glory Robot Insurance Persons Denying The Existence Of Robots Flag T-Shirt in other words I will buy this last hotel rooms in town. Considering sleeping in the airport?? I mainly use them to book cheap accommodations and I’ve never been in any sketchy or unclean situations because of if Definitely the host regretting the price she sold it to you for and screwing you over. Airbnb won’t do anything about it though, other than your measly refund which still leaves you stranded. Did you have her send this info via the airbnb ap? Need the hosts to communicate through ap, so they get proper downgrading and you get proper rectification. Yeah your host didn’t “accidentally” double book, they did it on purpose with zero intent of having you because they saw an opportunity to make more money. The fact AirBNB doesn’t immediately ban hosts for that kind of activity means it’ll happen forever. That shouldn’t happen. I use both platforms and you can sync your calendars so that all bookings on one app show up on the other calendar. I’ve never had a double booking and I’ve never canceled on a guest in 7 years. It would need to be something really urgent for me to do that. They will give you a full refund and see if they can find something in the price range you paid. They might give 10% extra, but nothing else, as per their T.O.S. They actually gave me a $500 voucher which I think is fair. Unfortunately doesn’t help me in the immediate future to find something when everything is booked.

It will not seem like it but you got very lucky with them, that is a whole lot more than I have ever heard anyone else get! Yep and travel insurance won’t cover it either as Airbnb is refunding it so when they call Airbnb to confirm the Old Glory Robot Insurance Persons Denying The Existence Of Robots Flag T-Shirt in other words I will buy this claim, they can’t help them out at all. I do not understand why people continue to use this service, especially if it’s not a big group needing accommodations. Show up as early as possible and be prepared for a scene. Make your problem the host’s problem. If you get there before the other person your arguing position is much improved. Maybe they’ll be the one to admit defeat and leave, in which case problem solved. Maybe even “Yes officer, there is a problem, this person cheated me out of rent.” Want to bet whether the host is following all of Vancouver’s related laws? They’ll probably scamper to find you a place and smooth things down. Unfortunately, you are likely to be screwed. AirBnB will definitely refund you since you can’t stay there. They may try to find you someplace else but they typically will only go for 10-20% over what you paid. I heard a rumor that someone once got 30% but that’s the most I’ve ever heard. Since nothing is available there they might try to say that staying an hour away is in your budget. Or they might just say “expect a refund in ten days” and leave you to figure it out. If so, I might ask if I could pay my rent to them and crash on the floor. If Airbnb won’t give you a refund, have the credit card company reverse the charges. AirBnb can only try to find you another AirBnb but can’t do anything to match prices. You’ll get a refund, of course, but no free hotel. At best, you’ll get $100 for your inconvenience.
