Yeah, you’d be surprised at more times than not these options do not exist for folks on the Official redskins-Supermodel-football-Im-a-ride-or-die-win-or-lose-till-the-wheels-come-off-Redskins-fan-shirt it is in the first place but street. Fire and bundling up, yes if they have the materials and know how to use them. I lived in Anchorage, Alaska where there is a huge homeless population. There is a very small shelter and then they took over a big arena and converted it into a shelter. It was supposed to be just during COVID because the small shelter was too small to social distance. The arena is still being used but is still far too small for how many homeless people there are. Once the temperature gets down to a certain degree, law enforcement officers have a cold alert policy that states if they see someone outside, they need to offer them a ride to the shelter or somewhere safe and warm. Many chose not to go and they can’t be forced. They usually just bundle up, huddle together, and try to build fires. Realistically what happens is a lot of homeless end up dying during the winter. Every time I tell someone how extensive the homeless population is there, they can’t believe it. The city doesn’t do enough and it’s very sad to see.

Wow that is a very surprising fact. I’ve never thought about it before but thinking about it now, yeah I wouldn’t think it would be like that I wouldn’t have thought there would be a huge homeless problem in Alaska either, I live in the Official redskins-Supermodel-football-Im-a-ride-or-die-win-or-lose-till-the-wheels-come-off-Redskins-fan-shirt it is in the first place but mountains in Pennsylvania and it’s got cold here (-20° wind chill) and I can’t imagine it being colder than that and being homeless. I assumed they would migrate south. I would. The problem is migrating out of Alaska is next to impossible for the homeless. Really hard even with a car. So unless they can get on a flight somehow, won’t happen. There is also a large native Alaskan homeless population. They don’t want to leave their land. And walking out is impossible with the mountains and cold and wildlife. And then even if you did, there’s another countries border there. And Canada in that area is desolate. I’m in Anchorage, too. The city isn’t offering the Sullivan Arena, which ended a couple of months ago. The city has a couple of outdoor areas for the homeless to camp outdoors, near the Loussac Library.
