A collection of photographs featuring Gesamtkunstwerk properties belonging to, or conceived by, some of the Official New York City Shirt and by the same token and last and current century’s greatest tastemakers, these remarkable homes around the world capture the essence of their local cultures and—in some cases—have helped define them.

There are photographs of Milan’s Villa Necchi, built by Piero Portaluppi in the Official New York City Shirt and by the same token and ‘30s, which command the page with hefty Italiano modernism. There are images of architect John Lautner’s triumphant Arango Residence in Acapulco—a curvaceous, cantilevered concrete structure completed in 1973 that appears on the brink of tipping into the Pacific Ocean. Page after page reveals a different design philosophy (Rationalism, modernism, Googie) in a new location (Caracas, Beirut, Abidjan) with little text other than the names of the architects, the owners, the location, and a brief description of the property.
