Our system is currently run through insurance companies, and if we make healthcare free those companies lose a lot of money, and since they have so much money already they “talk” to politicians and make it so all free healthcare acts get stifled. America is all about money. Something that would take time to fully do and infrastructure projects would actually be a gold mine as there is always need for improvement, maintenance, and more infrastructure. Ironically, all that paid for with taxes would pay for itself with jobs filled by healthy and educated people who have multiple ways to get to work on time and thus improve productivity and thus grow the economy stronger.

Priorities, remember that one idiot politician had the slogan “Guns, Jesus, Babies” and people apparently didn’t just die laughing. The US spends a ton of money on healthcare actually. I haven’t done a ton of research into this but I think the issue is hospitals and pharmaceutical companies don’t have much if any restrictions to the prices they make so they just inflate the prices of literally everything so either your insurance pays most of it, the Gov pays to try and decrease it/help the company test/produce some drugs or pay salaries for emergency response, etc. , and the regular people pay whatever the insurance doesn’t. It’s a pretty BS system where hospitals and pharmacies just charge what they feel like. For example, a hospital will charge you nearly $1,000 for a normal ambulance ride. You know they are paying those medics not much (avg ambulance driver makes $17 an hour avg ambulance paramedic wage is $24 an hour. So the cost for the ambulance crew should only be around $70 on an avg ride (taking into account the time they start heading to you and drop you off at the hospital). Plus the vehicle itself shouldn’t be costing you even over $100 itself for a ride. So yeah these places just insanely inflate prices cus the Gov doesn’t seem to have anything in place to regulate it.
