Those people born in 1969 who are retiring imminently are also more likely to be becoming grandparents than parents these days, which puts their birth year squarely at two “generations ago”. I teach LGBTQ2+ issues to public servants these days and this is still a lesson we touch on as to why people might be nervous about how the federal government will treat them.
