So I grew up near here and lemme tell you there’s a fucking curse around that pond. Back in the early 2000s some deranged kid beheaded the swans and spread their blood on the bank steps next door. The town recovered from the shock and when they got a mating pair that finally had eggs a few years later some teenager smashed them all. So a legit task force called the “Swan Patrol” was set up where townsfolk literally watched 24/7 while the swans nested a new clutch. One eventually died of natural causes and because swans mate for life the other one was hella depressed and went to go live out it’s days on a farm. So we got two new swans and there was a contest to name them and my friends dad named one Faye for “Fayetteville.” They had clutches of eggs and everyone was happy. And then this fucking this happened. Also of note there’s been controversy in the past because technically the swans are mute swans which are territorial and will destroy other nesting birds nests to the point that you aren’t allowed to breed them. But I guess because they live in a pond basically by themselves and never leave and the local ducks have another larger adjacent pond to nest the swans were allowed to keep doing what they do. I’m not at all surprised. It’s a town with literally nothing to do and a penchant for producing total psychopaths

I was thinking about how swans mate for life 🙁 what an unnecessarily cruel thing to do. And to EAT her???? That’s just… so messed up. You steal her babies to sell as PETS and then EAT HER???
