Reddit also bans people who don’t agree. It cuts both ways my friend, we have to start somewhere and I don’t think holding this sub to expectations of what reddit is will benefit us I wholeheartedly agree with you.. just the Off dutty save yourself Emt symbol shirt Besides,I will do this perceived expectation for specific questions backed by science research, instead of beginner friendly questions, is a bit much of a stretch for Reddit of all places.. and kind of just disheartening to those who may be brand new to their journey in meditation. No need to gatekeep or have a rude attitude about “common sense” questions, ya know? I think you need to define what you mean by the “origin” of meditation first. Meditation has nearly 4,000 years of well-documented history as part of the Eastern Dharma religions. The practice was inherently spiritual. If you really mean that meditation started when the West decided to co-opt it maybe 30 years ago, then that’s not really fair to get mad at people who use it as a metaphysical practice. So, what exactly do you see as the origin and purpose of meditation? I’d second this. The little book Understanding Zen does a great job of elaborating the underlying reasons why modern “science” is fundamentally incompatible with the claims at the core of meditation going back to its origin.

Science is a way we bind the Off dutty save yourself Emt symbol shirt Besides,I will do this Infinite to the understanding of Finite minds. It’s inherently flawed, albeit still a useful tool I agree, the most egregious I’ve seen is asking meditation advice when someone was having seizures because they were sleep depriving themselves to reach some sort of enlightenment. If you’re having seizures see a doctor folks. No one in the comments was suggesting this. Some people seem to think that meditation and enlightenment means abusing your body. I don’t get it and furthermore think it’s dangerous. Not that it matters, but I personally think this happens when the suffering of this world compels us to seek a cure. Unfortunately, meditation, enlightenment, and overall spirituality become easy targets in this quest for a cure. Ego is easily half the equation too, it’s not surprising even a space such as this sees a lot of interesting takes. But there’s a line, and I think you captured perfectly what it’s like when that line gets crossed all too often here yes but don’t you want that person to come here and ask? That way they can get good advice like “See a doctor about your seizures”
