There’s an aspect of LOTRO (Lord of the Of Course I Talk To Mysellf Sometimes I Need Expert Advice Fishing shirt in addition I really love this Rings Online) that is pretty cool. A new player can hang out in the opening lands, and get assisted through all the starting deeds, just by asking. There are players with high level characters hanging out in those starter areas. They will allow new players to “follow” (a command that allows one player to attach themselves to another player, and not have to do ANYTHING while they trail behind and share XPs from any combat the leader engages in). The high level character will then blaze through all the starting Deeds… killing X mobs to receive Turbine Points, and everyone in this train following behind gets the XPs, and the Deeds finished in minutes instead of hours (or days). It is a nice thing to do for new players, and there are people hanging out who will do it for the asking. You gotta ask though. Do some people advertise the fact that they are available to do it? Sure. You still have to speak up and ask if you want it done. You cannot jump into the game, new, and EXPECT that someone is just going to show up, scoop you up, and pull you through your next few levels without you touching the keyboard. You can ask for someone to help, but you cannot expect it to just be there.

Again… one can’t seem to even suggest “Did you look up the Of Course I Talk To Mysellf Sometimes I Need Expert Advice Fishing shirt in addition I really love this acronym?” without getting “I shouldn’t have to” level of entitlement in return. Everyone else has to look up “words” they don’t understand… why not in this case? Hell, there are still people confused as to what LMFAO, or FUBAR stand for…. because they won’t ask. At what point does that refusal to ask become willful ignorance? I think that makes a bit more sense on any given games particular subreddit. It’s a more safe assumption that the members there are big fans who are caught up on lingo and acronyms. But the gaming sub in general I think should be a little more generalized. I was just talking to my friends about playing MK, how it is a great party game, kids love it, and friends can have a blast, while he was shock that I would let my kids play games that cutting people’s head off and ripping spines out. If I don’t know the letters they are talking about I just ignore their comment. Except KOTH – king of the kill is gangster.
