I do have serious mood swings and no doctor takes it seriously. Maybe that’s why I’m getting so much concerned as well. I agree 100%.It happens in the India, US & possibly elsewhere too, there’s a video by John Oliver(bias in medicine) on sexism, racism & bias in healthcare. Then there’s stigma about reproductive, mental health issues, STDs, etc among people and even doctors sometimes. Even our books, medical literature is riddled with biases since almost of them are written by male doctors(white american or Indian). I’ve seen it happen to my own classmate by a orthopedics senior professor, he insisted her back pain was ‘psychological’ and probably due to stress/poor posture common with students, she passed away due to TB spine within 3 years during our 4th prof exams, after 2 years of paralysis. She saw him every few weeks for 3-4 months and was not even prescribed painkillers and not even an X-Ray. All of us suspected it since she was working with TB patients for a project, was losing weight, febrile in the evenings but we were in 2nd year at the time and weren’t too sure ourselves. We convinced for an X-Ray, Mantoux and a CSF tap, all came positive but it was too late and MDT failed. She died directly due to gaslighting & sexism.

Few of the indicators was that it doesn’t hurt, it hasn’t changed shape or size and it moves around when you use your fingers. I’m thinking of getting it checked out again as well. A painful lump on the breasts is best to be checked out thoroughly, start with an ultrasound. I usually go to Manipal Hospital (either Hebbal or Cubbon is good), if you need a gynac, gynacs are professional there and should be able to help.
