Got flighted to a level 1 hospital and rushed into a cath lab… no heart attack. I had a female GYN tell me it must be my fault that I’ve be sexually assaulted more than once. I have never been more traumatized by anything than that comment up until then. It was absolute betrayal. My youngest was 4 years old, and he was so very very very wild. Jumping on the couch, I told him no, made him get off, and I turn my back and he was at it again. We had to literally tie him to the chair at meal times, and always had a cloth ready because a meal wasn’t complete without him throwing something over. His teachers complained about him daily. I thought it probably was ADHD. Took him with me to the doc for a referral for testing.

I had a therapist tell me everyone has adhd, when I suggested that might be what was plaguing me. I quickly found a different doctor. I have a genetic illness. The fact that it’s genetic implies that I was born with it, or so I thought. Doc asks me, “so how long have you had the illness?” “You’re very intelligent; you should be able to handle everything going on with you right now.” Said while trying to basically kick me out of a psych ward where I was committed for suicidal tendencies resulting from living in an abusive household my entire life where I had no hope of escaping. When I was pregnant with my third and told me I had to come back an hour later. I lived an hour away so asked if I could go somewhere else. Refused to admit me or see me. Let me wait in a room. Had every single sign and symptom of pregnancy. Still refused to see me. Only when the hour was up, the l&d nurse and doctors finally checked on me. My water broke as I was being wheeled literally into the delivery room next door and it was too late to get an epidural. It was the most painful l&d, traumatic af, and my baby was born at risk with her umbilical chord around her neck, not breathing.
