Child care. For all the endless paperwork, developmental observations, planning, and extra work you have to take home to get it done in time. Not to mention your own money you spend on your classroom because there isn’t enough funds. Also there is lots of overtime that isn’t paid at overtime rate, just your normal pay rate because ratio can’t be met if you leave. As a whole, all workers are underpaid. Our productivity has skyrocketed, but the only thing that has gone up are corporate profits. The destruction of unions, erosion of workers rights, suppression of the minimum wage, non-compete agreements, illegal 1099s, all of it is intentional and it effects every worker in America. EMTs and Paramedics (There’s a large difference in scope of practice between the 2 so pay will be different between the both titles). The pay range is so broad from state to state it’s absolutely ridiculous. Metro MN and outlying areas seem to pay decently where I work but I’ve heard of wages for both in other states well below $20/hr. Software engineers. The world would stop if we went on strike. We saved your asses during the pandemic. Without us you wouldn’t have had Zoom, Slack, Doordash, or a fucking operating system. We are the real essential workers.
