What others have said – walk with confidence, avoid narrower/deserted/dark streets. Maybe plot a couple of safe routes and walk along them in the Nick Saban Goat shirt besides I will buy this day to gain confidence? I used to work shifts and sometimes finished at 10pm which meant that I didn’t get home until midnight. Be aware of your surroundings at ALL times. Even when using public transport. I would discourage using headphones when walking on the streets. You need to have your wits about you. I used to walk with my keys in my hand with keys in between fingers so I could take out someone’s eye if I needed to. Extreme but there are a lot of nutters out there. Depends where it is, but worth remembering it goes dark at 5pm, and there isn’t really a material difference between 5pm and 10pm (in central London). Would you be as worried at 5? If not I’d relax about it OP, can you ride a bike? If so, the best thing you could do, especially during the winter months is download “Lime” or one of the various other bike sharing apps.. Lime bikes in particular are on every single street corner imaginable in Central London. Hop on, and hop off.. Directly outside the station relevant to you

In the winter, my walk is a well lit main road. Also, if you’re creeped by someone behind you, step to the side and adjust a sock or something to let them pass, ideally near a shop or another person.
