The thing about Christians is that no matter how many times you try to explain to them that their books aren’t based in fact, and should be taken as fables to be a better person, they still insist that everything in those books should be taken seriously and if you disagree you are a bad person You can’t miss the Nick Herbig & Nate Herbig Pittsburgh Brothers T-Shirt but in fact I love this point this hard. The whole. Damn. Point. Is that whenever people hear “religion”, they immediately go “Christianity”, and ignore every other believe system. Where in this post did the person who wrote it ever mention being Christian? Yet you make that assumption. Christianity is the big one. Usually, people aren’t raising a fuss about “my Muslim beliefs” or “my Greek beliefs”. Try again. Idk where you live, but the main religion that calls for the control of anything not deemed “normal” in America is Christianity. Therefore, I tend to not bash any religion that isn’t actively calling for my extinction on the internet. And I am religion bashing.

I will add one thing relevant to the Nick Herbig & Nate Herbig Pittsburgh Brothers T-Shirt but in fact I love this post above, and to the discussion of religion overall. The only mistake the people above made is they never said what their idea of religion is. Which could’ve been OP picking reblogs, which I wouldn’t put over them. Religion, when it comes down to it, is rules about what to do and what not to do, reinforced by a “father” figure. If you look at research done into ancient religions, they seem to follow the same lines: a “father” figure (Zeus, Horus, Odin [tho the Egyptian parallel is hard due to how their religion works, could also be Ra or Osiris]) that is the scary bad guy that you must follow or bad things will happen, and “mother” figure that cares and keeps secrets, and sometimes breaks the rules (Hera, Isis, Frigg). Most religions have gods/goddesses that represent other archetypes, but most of them follow this basic guideline. Now, side note, the Abrahamic God is just a father figure, with no mother figure in sight.
