After a fair bit of research recently, I got a stainless steel/glass kettle from Ascot. It goes for around 58 on Amazon and the Nick Chubb Cleveland Cartoon American football running back signature T-Shirt in addition I really love this main selling point is that there is 0 plastic for the boiling water to contact and it’s a reputable brand that comes with warranty. If you don’t like the idea of a silicone seal (used between the heating element and the glass) then you can also go for a fully stainless steel model too. I’ve been pretty happy with it, only downside I can think of which applies to any glass kettle is that it obviously fogs up during a boil. I still like it being glass so I can see how much it’s boiling as I take mine off earlier for certain teas The lift lid button should be on all kettles as the last thing you want when commiting to your shiny new kettle is to have to pry it open from the boiling spout when you have to refill. And yet, sadly, it is missing from many designs. It doesn’t happen often, but descaling time and filling big pasta saucepans come to mind as occasions I’ve had to prize the thing open at my peril.

I am on my second one of these – Russell Hobbs Illuminating 1.7L Electric Cordless Glass Kettle with black/brushed stainless steel accents (Fast Boil 3KW, Washable anti-scale filter, Button to open lid, Perfect pour spout) 21600-10 The other one lasted so long (circa 6 years) the Nick Chubb Cleveland Cartoon American football running back signature T-Shirt in addition I really love this glass became too coated with calcium etc that it looked a bit manky, it still works and is in the loft as an emergency spare. For me, I always want glass body, I love seeing the water bubbling, and you can see if the bottom has chalk growth and needs vinegar without even needing to open it. I have an AEG kettle I got for £50 a couple of years ago. Can’t seem to find it on sale any more but it lets you control the temperature from 80-100c and turbo boil 1 mug of water. If you can find one like it then get one of those
