My favorite joke about pronunciation is from The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, her roommate says something along the Nick Bosa American football defensive end Sack-A-Rooney T-Shirt also I will do this lines of “You think someone who called it the “Lieberry” has ever been there?” This one is such a bizarre combination of irrespective and regardless. And yet, so many people say it as if it’s a real word. Although technically, it has been classified as some sort of semi-acceptable not-really-a-word-word. The grating part of this is that’s exactly how language works. That’s simply how words evolve, and how we got “goodbye” from “God be with ye”. If enough people say it — and unfortunately more than enough people do — it becomes “a word”. But don’t worry, they’re still wrong in my book, I’ll still be shouting from the rooftops with you, “ITS REGARDLESS!!!!!!!”

don’t know if it’s pronunciation related but i hate it when people call macarons ‘macaroons’, like that’s a whole different thing Macarons and macaroons are two different desserts one is the Nick Bosa American football defensive end Sack-A-Rooney T-Shirt also I will do this French cookie the other is made of coconut and chocolate and I think it’s Hebrew. And I hate when they’re not named correctly Axed instead of asked. Pacifically instead of specifically. Stanima instead of stamina. There are more, but I just annoyed tf out of myself by just writing these. Chaucer uses both in Canterbury Tales as it was in transition to ‘ask’ at the time in colloquial speech. They’re just using late 1300-early 1400 wording. You can just start quoting Beowulf to annoy them with your archaic anachronisms. There’s always an older version of language to draw upon.
