I am not exactly who you’re targeting but I hit E5 quickly, in 2 cycles from new grad. My manager is talking about covering a few gaps to get to E6 shortly. I am already in somewhat of a coast phase even though my YOE is only 3ish. I don’t really see much of a point. It’s a bit exhausting because most expect me to move up just due to past trajectory, but other than money I don’t really see the Nice mark margolis breaking bad and better call saul actor dies at 83 shirt also I will do this benefits. I don’t really have career goals, other than eventually get out of this career altogether. It’s a bit exhausting because here most folks are competitive go-getters who want to put in the time and effort to excel and move up. I just try to exist, be helpful, work 35 – 40 hours. However, the Nice mark margolis breaking bad and better call saul actor dies at 83 shirt also I will do this folks that I am referencing are those that have chosen to not be promoted in a long time by choice because getting promoted also takes a lot of effort beyond just writing code or being technically adept Worked for 15 years in high end sales. Hit many all time company records. Was promoted several times and salary tripled during this time. Got so good and was making so much they decided to axe me (and 100s of others) and let someone making half my salary do the job with 60-70 percent effectiveness. That’s their call I guess. Got a different job making 60k less but no stress, easy work, and annual increases. No nights or weekends and work from home full time. Money is tight and have to live within my income but trade off was worth it. Have not asked for a promotion in 5 years. No need to have such a high salary that they question it.
