The literal translation of ‘Baraat’ is wedding procession. Ok for you? ‘India’ is easy and fine as is. Your ultra nationalist folks and politicians could chose to call it Bharat – no issue there. Don’t expect the NFL Snoopy The Peanuts Houston Texans Christmas Shirt it is in the first place but same from everyone else. There’s your issue; names are words with meanings. They aren’t just random unique noises that we use because they sound cool, they are have specific meanings and are used because of their meanings. Since not everyone speaks the same language, most people choose to take the meaning of the word rather than the word itself. One of the NFL Snoopy The Peanuts Houston Texans Christmas Shirt it is in the first place but easiest and most common names. I have still met people who spell it wrong and since I live abroad, most people pronounce it differently than I do. So even though the word is the same, I’m constantly getting called something different than what I call myself. It’s just how languages work. This happens in other languages too, not just English. Unfortunately I’ve forgotten most of my German and Russian and can’t give you an example. I was actually thinking just last night how much I prefer how the French say the US. It just….flows better. So, we are all right and all wrong. I should probably state the ‘the states’ is my favorite. Layzay-taz-oonie. It reads bonkers but it just sounds…smooth. I don’t know why I got obsessed last night.
