It’s amazing what swiggy/Zomato have solved, ofcourse now that it’s solved, we forgot the New York Rangers 2024 NHL Stadium Series Helmet Logo shirt but in fact I love this original problem, which is the restuarant owners. Your job as a restaurant is to make food, just do that properly, and it is illogical to expect every resturant owner to how to pack, how to manage delivery. Also no pity party, restuarants jack up the prices anyway and in a fair market, you will always be out competed by someone else so figure out your USP, people will pay or maybe restuaranting is not for you. I agree with this 100%. But fucking hell, these aggregators at least zomato still can’t make money. (Check their P/L operating margin is still -2%) even though the prices are jacked to the tits. Ondc launched a year ago. It’s been a failure to put it lightly. I have used magic pin and Paytm ondc to order food and frankly the experience has brought me back to zomato. Calling it a failure is a bit too early imo. Initially UPI too seemed to have lot of issues but over time UPI was able to improve significantly. ONDC! ONDC! ONDC! (It will take too long to acquire even half the consumers existing with the Duopoly and the ordering experience is mid at best) Nevertheless, ONDC! ONDC! ONDC! IMHO, restaurants have anywhere between 20-35 rupees as packaging charges added on top for an avg order size of lets say Rs.300. Also the prices on Zomato/swiggy delivery menu are jacked up to compensate for this. I have seen savings of at least 20-30% if one does a take away specially from a small independent food joint. So i guess as an end customer we are paying extra for the convenience already. But i also understand this business is too cluttered and cutthroat as there are just too many places to order from these days and the customer is king and restaurants have to be on there toes to keep profits rolling in and hence this industry has a 80% failure rate within its first 2 yrs only.

This text seems to be straight out of Nikhil Kamath’s restaurant podcast. Word by word, almost. Is this your true case? No, the New York Rangers 2024 NHL Stadium Series Helmet Logo shirt but in fact I love this consumer is already paying a premium on most of the food items on Swiggy and Zomato by paying 20-25% extra on most food items apart from delivery fee, gst and platform fee. You’re twisting the facts (because if you charge 20-25% extra on food apps, you can’t be making 50-60% loss) and it’s like you want those apps and consumers to be a charity for restaurants. It’s like you’re forgetting that apps provide services not just to the consumers but also the restaurants. Most of the orders you get from apps, you wouldn’t get if they weren’t there. You need to pay for the services you get, restaurant owners. Why tf would customers pay for the services being provided to you. And if it was that bad, you wouldn’t have registered with those apps anyway. You make a net profit that’s why you’re still there.
