I was a teacher for 8 years and my strict policy was a 0 for any form of cheating. No re do, no extra assignment. You have to take the 0 and feel the full weight of your actions. Or else they’ll just keep doing it. Taught for a semester as an adjunct. None of my students understood what plagiarism is. I had to explain to them that it wasn’t just valid grounds for me to fail them for the paper, but to fail them for the class and report them for a lack of academic integrity that could have them kicked out of school. They decided to quickly learn how to cite sources. Well, most of them, a few failed a 100 level required course where there professor gave them multiple opportunities to make up for missing work.

If the student is not a moron, they’ll cut bait there and admit their mistake. If they’re committed to drifting their hole, they’ll describe some BS process. Then ask them who Stacy is. They’ll be super confused (cause I guarantee you they don’t remember who their point of contact is). Then say “Stacy? From KingEssays?” Then show him the full email. Watch his hopes and dreams die right then. BONUS ROUND check the metadata in the PowerPoint. I bet dollars to donuts Stacy didn’t wipe it or reset it to match his. See if there is more nuggets to pull. Ask something like “I checked the metadata and it says that this PowerPoint was created by Stacy. I got a final C in my bachelors and B in my masters. Mixed results. But through all that I can proudly say 1 thing: all my work was my own.
