And I could see where many folks from my background just have a knee jerk reaction against the word in general. a word used by people of African decent to describe people of many different ethnicity which can mean everything from ‘friend’ to ‘mother fucker’ is not a slur, unlike that word which ends in ER only means one thing.

But one is so blatant and had more exposure. r/waterniggas was a popular sub and was on the front page often. It took me a couple of passes by popular posts to realize what it was about. TD is obviously way less popular and tbh you sort of have to go looking for or stumble across their content. Their posts weren’t always on the front page. So I see why r/waterniggas got banned way faster than TD. r/waterniggas was banned like 1-2 weeks after it went mainstream. T_D was constantly upvote brigading their bs propaganda during 2015-2016 and overall just manipulating the voting dynamic on different threads. They were by far more known than r/waterniggas. Maybe you’re right. Maybe I just frequent or notice different subs where they has less influence. I’ve been on Reddit for 4 years and I’ve only ever saw TD on the front page when another reddit has linked some of their content. A lot of people browse r/all, not the FP section. T_D was constantly filling the r/all section with their shitty propaganda. Literally pages of spam full of breitbart horseshit and anti clinton pics. But what did Proudboy /u/spez do instead of banning them? He rewrote an entire new code for reddit just to avoid banning them.
