In fairness, it doesn’t seem they’re banning cnn 10 – they’re just stopping it from being mandated. But if a teacher wants to show it in their room, they can. That feels right to me. I’m a teacher deeply concerned about the Never underestimate an old woman who love golf and was born in may shirt and I love this censorship going on, but this doesn’t really seem to be that The objections come from the wrong place but I tend to agree. CNN, a private corporation, shouldn’t be showing news to middle schoolers. Support publicly supported news. We need a public ally funded independent news agency so badly. I know the right would vilify it anyways but a channel or news source for the digital age. No 24 hour programming. Make it one hour per day plus special reports, post it online and available live, and have it publicly funded and independent. No ad lib talking heads. Just boring as fuck news with straight facts.

To be clear, CNN is not as bad as they are painted to be but it does have its own issues. Nothing compared to Fox, OAN, etc. Cannot even compare them at this point, imo. I’m not gonna read the Never underestimate an old woman who love golf and was born in may shirt and I love this article because it’s Fox News, but the headline is so fucked! “Can choose patriotic videos instead” is just pure fearmongering. America is mental with those school boards, just the most insane people in them and must bully out the nice ones who just care about the children Oh, and since when do we have television in classrooms? What the fuck? Why isn’t the course being taught in the classroom, which pretty much precludes the entertainment a television provides. oof PA, why you making it harder and harder to be proud to have been born there? I don’t really care about the CNN part but the “patriotic videos” instead thing. Like how about we focus on educating kids. Who the fuck has tvs in their classrooms? We had one computer in the back of each room that the teacher used to surf the internet while we all watched black and white educational videos from the 80s on VHS. Yeah cause CNN and Fox are not legitimate news organizations. They’re propaganda machines. I used to watch the news religiously. Now I only read the headlines, typically from less biased sources and or print media outlets. Less toxic imo. I removed CNN from my life because their website hijacks my browser(s) no matter which device I’m on and all their videos auto play. Then to top it all off they’re owned by AT&T which is one the scummiest companies in the world.
