She shrugged, said she had no idea what it was, and gave me a pamphlet on the insurance companies weight loss program. She said I didnt need to come in if Im having anxiety. Turns out yeah, its melanoma and Im getting it removed.

My mom, who was always ultra sensitive to absolutely everything that was said to me (including an embarrassing incident when they were just doing a basic check to make sure I was actually hitting puberty), totally missed it. Like yes, mom, the doctor said I was fat. Absolute worst thing to tell a teenager who wasn’t even overweight.
