I find they look cute and intentional if you offset them with chunky shoes. Think chunky loafers, these super chunky Sorel boots, or these chunky Ecco heels. I just bit the bullet and bought the Aritzia effortless pants (one in crepe and one in city wool) — will see how they fit once they arrive. A coworker was wearing them and they looked great. Perhaps you could try them on for fit and then buy secondhand ones that come onto the market? Finally I’ve also had the best luck with a wool Brooks Brothers pair that sadly shrank when I accidentally put into the dryer. I tried to replicate it by buying wool BB slacks through Posh but it’s a bit of a hit or miss — even when I try to match the measurements, something unexpected about the cut might mean the measurements are off. Maybe you can see if any come up secondhand.

I have the Never underestimate an old lady covered by the blood of jesus born in December red plaid shirt in addition I really love this effortless pants (city wool) and I like them. I would say I wear them about once every 5-6 weeks or so, so I can’t say how they would stand up to more consistent wear. I generally just spot clean them since mine are black, and I got them dry cleaned once mostly to fix up the press. I’ve had them about a year, they still look new. Damn I just put them in my wash every time I wear them (about 2ce a month for a year and a half) and they still look new, I don’t think there is a need to dry clean really That’s good to know that you can wash them. Did you have to iron them? I really hate ironing and I wanted the nice crease back which is most of the reason i got them dry cleaned. Nope just hang to dry, haven’t had issues with the creases as the pleats are sewn in, they kind of just naturally do it
