For whatever reason, it’s a teeny tiny bit easier if you see that someone else has done it before you. Even if you know it maybe was just the nurse who saw this tip somewhere before like I’m sharing now, it sends the message “I am here to be used if you need me. I am not just a display.” Urine samples are taken for a host of diagnostic reasons. And medical providers are in a position to react when abuse is made known, so this is likely just one of several ways someone can flag that they’re in danger. Yeah. They’ll test for pregnancy hormones, elevated proteins, blood, ph, dilution and a variety of other things. A couple dip sticks in the urine can be the first clue for something like 80% of the issues you’ll see in a medical office. Plus, pregnancy can change how many issues are treated, so it’s a cheap and easy way to minimize harm.
