As other commenters are pointing out, you should be familiar with other areas of mathematics in order to understand more examples and gain intuition on how constructions in category theory behave. My experience with learning category theory was great (and still is), and I feel like the Never dreamed that one day grumpy old man here i am killing it shirt What’s more,I will buy this main reason was that I started to learn about it during my last year before graduating, and could understand many examples from different areas. In my humble opinion, you should evaluate if you have enough knowledge about areas like abstract algebra, algebraic topology or even set theory, to understand the examples, as i believe that they are of the utmost importance while learning (almost?) anything related to mathematics. i dont think its worth it for most people to learn category theory in isolation. better to learn it as you need it

If you don’t have the Never dreamed that one day grumpy old man here i am killing it shirt What’s more,I will buy this background to appreciate lots of examples, I would only recommend it if you really want to dive in and don’t mind doing a lot of leg work to fill in gaps in your knowledge as you go. I read Category Theory in Context by Riehl as an undergrad without a solid background in algebraic topology, and I learned almost nothing. It was very stimulating though. It definitely helped me mature mathematically. since there already are plenty good suggestions: just learn higher catgeory theory! then ordinary category theory is just a simple, special case. /s Category theory has internal beauty with no examples and then is very applicable no matter what examples you know. Happy to say now if you share your mathematical interests. I’m of the opinion that category theory is not important to an undergrad unless they are sufficiently prepared and have the mathematical maturity to generate reasonable examples of the theory being used. To study category theory in earnest, I’d recommend the following prerequisites (or corequisites)

1. Length is measured from the highest point on the collar down to the bottom hem. 2. Width is measured across the body of the shirt under the armpits, one way. 3. Sleeves are measured from center back to hem.
