Don’t get wrong I m 100% onboard with the Nestor Cortes Jr. And Matt Carpenter Bros Of New York Yankees Essential T-Shirt it is in the first place but anti work movement but homeless-ness isn’t okay. Most of these people has serious mental and drug abuse issues. They need help but it’s not possible to help them if they continue living in camps. What is going to help? The institutions for them to escape homelessness exist, they just choose not to use them. At what point is it unfair that the rest of the world has to deal with them ruining some of the nicest areas in the country? Institutions exist, but they’re often overwhelmed, inadequate, and/or punitive. A housing-first model that prioritizes mental healthcare and substance abuse treatment would be much more effective. But no one is refuting that. I’m all for housing first options or public funds put towards other meaningful programs to help the homeless, but I’m not cool with just letting tent cities exist indefinitely.

Ok again, where are they supposed to go? Also that’s a misconception. A ton of homeless have jobs or are children. The stereotypical ‘drug addled’ and ‘mentally ill’ homeless person is the Nestor Cortes Jr. And Matt Carpenter Bros Of New York Yankees Essential T-Shirt it is in the first place but version that is tossed around so much to 1) make you believe this is the norm and 2) to garner less sympathy for the homeless. Why do you think people are so nasty about giving them any sort of aid (they’ll spend it on drugs!!) or housing (they’ll trash it!) It’s because of propaganda/media feeding this exact image to you. If you want a real thinker, look at how the ‘people harmed by the opiate crisis’ are portrayed to ‘homeless druggies’. most homeless people are not drug addicted or mentally ill, but those people are sleeping on a friend’s couch or in their car. you will never see them or know they’re homeless, and odds are they won’t be homeless for long. unfortunately, any homeless person you see on the actual streets or in an illegal encampment is in fact highly likely to be on drugs or mentally ill or both.
