That’s an allergic reaction. Could be allergic to latex gloves or anything. Like this clinic I too keep epinephrine as an emergency drug to administer in cases of allergic reaction/anaphylaxis. They give you test dose in your skin to check if you are allergic in that case. Only after that they administered the full dose. Always done with anesthesia drugs. One possible negligence I can see is giving oral drugs to the patient who already threw up. Iv cannulation is not done during these dental procedures and it looks like they did not try to give further iv antiallergy medication after he thew up. As for the actual cause, it is most likely multifactorial like existing allergies. Another reason could be accidently administering the regional anesthesia into a vein due to not aspirating the needle. Overall though it looks like a reputed dental hospital, so it is really unfortunate and looks like one of those 0.01% chance compilations.

I might be reading it wrong but it almost seems like they gave anesthesia multiple times and likely over dosed the Nebraska Huskers Madness shirt and I will buy this patient. They say they gave him .5ml to .6ml total but the way the log of events reads that was what was administered in the the first procedure then it was found he needed further surgery and they administered more and then another so more and more. I’m surprised the dentist decided to do multiple complicated procedures in one sitting.. the patient must have become fatigued and hypoglycemic which further exacerbated to low pressure and ultimately death. This is very on point. My sister is a lawyer and is studying medico legal cases right now. She’s taking my boyfriend’s (who is a doctor) help in understanding the nuances of a surgery. It’s very easy for me as a layman to jump to the conclusion that it was the doctors negligence that caused suffering/death of the patient. But as doctors y’all do follow the standard procedures and try to control whatever y’all can. At the end of the day external factors are not in your hand.
