Technically it’s civil, but if the Nasty Gal Betty Davis Betty David Betty Davis shirt But I will love this police turn up and tell you to leave and you don’t there’s a myriad of minor offences like disturbing the peace they can use to arrest you. And there’s a swath of laws being created to use against protesters that can probably be interpreted to fit the situation. They’ll de-arrest you and tell you not to do it again once they’re outside/back at the police station (depending how annoyed with you they are), but they’ll have a record so if you do it again they can use that against you as a pattern of behaviour. So yeah, trespass is civil until you cause damage or threaten someone but don’t think you won’t get arrested. They’ll try and mediate first but they will be annoyed at getting called to this petty shit so your side better be very sympathetic. In this case they’d probably just say oh ffs let them take the picture so we can all go home or tell you to go and use a different post office, depending how much of a Belle d they feel you are. Shop owners have to have the right to remove people from their property using reasonable force. If they didn’t then difficult customers could prevent them from securing their premises when locking up by just refusing to leave.

If someone asks you to leave and you refuse, and they attempt to use reasonable force and you refuse, you can be charged with assault. Photographer here and this is the Nasty Gal Betty Davis Betty David Betty Davis shirt But I will love this right answer. Even so, never had any issues before when wanting to take pics of parcels etc All this, but also security. It would be like taking a video camera into a bank. We don’t know what you are photographing or filming so we can ask you not to and refuse a picture. I myself would allow a close up of the parcel and nothing more. A lot of post offices have CCTV these days so I take it that they can take your picture with out obtaining permission? Yes businesses and organisations are usually granted the right to use and retain CCTV for the purposes of crime prevention and deterrence. You can ask those organisations for the footage if you really wanted to. But it is technically a public place if it’s easily accessible (and used) by the public, like in a post office. So can they ask you not to, yes like in any circumstances, but legally, I think not? Does this apply to residences as well? For instance allegedly some delivery services now have policies to take pictures of the parcel with the door open Often this happens without the addressee’s consent. For me it would make sense for this to be at least a grey area legally. But I don’t have the legal knowledge to support it, just seems wrong (when someone takes a picture without warning when I open the door and I request for them to delete it for them to refuse). I would have thought data protection policies would cover this. But I admit I’ve been too lazy to properly dig into it.
