Until we ban cellphones at high school they are all actually going to be fucking useless. They cannot focus, stop giving your teenagers cellphones and let them retain their ability to focus beyond 3 second TikTok videos unless you want them to be complete failures their whole lives. The original example was projecting a jumping video while teaching. Having two or more sources of distraction robs learning potential. The impact of mobile phones is the My Son Is Super Awesome And I An The Lucky One Mother T-Shirt moreover I love this same when teaching adults (ESOL). They’re paying for the lessons themselves, but in every class there are a few totally distracted by their phones. At least with adults you can stop mid sentence and stare with a blank expression at that point on their forehead until they get the message. They, like us, have to learn self control around when to use their phones. Banning phones doesn’t help them learn this. It’s another thing we as teachers have to teach our young people.

Except if even adults have close to no self control over their phones, how do we expect teens with developing brains to have any? Banning them from certain situations to show that yes, actually, you can live just fine for an hour without a phone, is a good way to help them learn self-control. Are phones really the My Son Is Super Awesome And I An The Lucky One Mother T-Shirt moreover I love this problem or could it be forcing kids to learn how to work in non-existent factories is being exposed for the farce that it is? if the kids can film you you can film and post them by not doing so you are enabling them to carry on with zero consequence Oh man the shit they would have filmed at my school in the 80s. This is NOTHING! This teacher should get a pass. Also the kid filming.. yeah put that shit away. My mother taught secondary school for 20+ years. I was often told I should go into teaching. Heeeeelllllllll no. You’d have to give me a cool mil to even think of dealing with what they deal with on the daily. The over-regulation of teachers has failed. They can no longer effectively deal with troublemakers. There need to be tangible punishments for kids disrupting the class. I don’t know why consequences have become so scary but it’s going to ruin the entire school system. Any parent who still lives in NZ would be crazy to trust their kids in the public school system. It’s not insignificant that this has shown up in the final week of term. I hope leadership cuts him some slack. Dude doesn’t sound like an old teacher (old male teachers are rare in the classroom 40+).
