I only know cause the Mumford Solar Eclipse 2024 Sun And Moon Retro shirt and I will buy this guy who taught me banjo moved there for his wife to teach – still keep up with him every now and again and wouldn’t you know, there is actually a decent market for learning banjo there too. The Saudis hire westerners for their technial knowledge and as managers. They have since oil was discovered. Westerners are paid well, treated well. Kind of ignored when they do western things. They hire people from third world countries for menial jobs. They are not treated very well. They are called TCNs Third Country Nationals, because most companies or projects are joint operations by Sausis and westerners. TCNs are a Third country. I worked there in the 90s. Everybody brewed their own beer and wine. Most of it was nasty. You could buy moonshine, which was called sadiki (sah deeki) which also the arab word for friend. There was a party somewhere every night usually with plenty if beer and sadiki. Bigger parties on weekends.

I’ve lived in one of these. Been to others. I guarantee you they are not all luxurious. Best one I saw had a lot of embassy staff. They are rarely exclusive to a nationality. Some kind of suck. Especially if you’re in a rural area I mean some might be. The embassy one I went to was nice, but still not comparable to a vacation resort in the Mumford Solar Eclipse 2024 Sun And Moon Retro shirt and I will buy this USA. I lived in a Riyadh compound. You are correct in saying they were not luxury. Pools were nice enough but the amenities otherwise were fairly basic. Udhailiyah suuucks because it’s so desolate. At least in Khobar you have the ability to go get good food and watch a movie (a recent change). I only stayed in Udha for days at a time or to golf, I would stay in Al Hofuf, my two daughters have nothing but amazing memories of living there. I did spend a lot of time up at the American Embassy in the Diplomatic Quarter, though. The Marine guard there was fantastic. Yeah, Aramco is jokingly called “little America.” For a time, their campus had the only movie theater in the country. Never would have guessed that high either. It’s interesting to me how many expats live in the middle east overall.
