And, what’s weird, is that I think Jo Brand and Kathy Burke are absolute comedy geniuses, but are comedians who have played down their femininity. So much female comedy seems to be about the Motivational Quote Trucker Life Is Great Enjoy The Ride Vintage T-Shirt but in fact I love this difference between men and women’s bodies. And the differing expectations of them, like being a disappointment to their fathers. I saw Harriet Kemsley live recently. She seemed like a nice and engaging person, but the routine was just awful. I’d be happy if anyone knows anyone worth listening to these days, but I doubt it. The UK club scene is FAR better than the TV scene. Genuinely some of the best comics in the work play the UK club scene, but don’t get any TV work because it’s too London Centric
