Most of us DID take a foreign language in high school (sometimes middle school, if you were a good student). BUT most of us only know these languages at a rudimentary level. I had 4 years of Spanish in high school and 2 years of college German. I got good grades, but don’t even consider myself conversationally fluent. But I can say/read/write very basic things in those languages. This is the Momma’s Boy Shirt and I will buy this level of foreign language that most American adults have. It’s not complete ignorance of foreign language, but it’s certainly not the “polyglot mastery” that Euros consider the norm. Remember Hillary’s running mate? Tim Kaine? He’s proficient in Spanish. He even gave some of his acceptance speech at the DNC in 2016 in Spanish. While it is true that a big portion of the country speaks Spanish, that was far less true 50, 60, 70 years ago when the last few presidents outside of Obama were in school. Back then the world was smaller and the US was geographically isolated so you really only needed the local language, which for most of the US was English.

People in Amsterdam can get to London, Paris, Brussels, Berlin, Zurich, Warsaw and Copenhagen by ground faster than you get from NYC to Chicago As far as I can tell there are no requirements to become an American president. In fact many elected positions are light on the Momma’s Boy Shirt and I will buy this requirements. It’s unfortunate since people elected don’t tend to do a great job, but here we are. The role isn’t designed for an intelligent man. It’s designed for a charismatic man who understands politics. The same reason a math teacher wouldn’t need to know multiple languages While yes, there is a lot of Spanish, French and other languages, most of them either 1) Know Enough English to Understand or 2) Usually watch a Channel that’s translates it for them.

1. Length is measured from the highest point on the collar down to the bottom hem. 2. Width is measured across the body of the shirt under the armpits, one way. 3. Sleeves are measured from center back to hem.
