These are just decorative decora fascias that (are supposed to) bolt into standard duplex receptacles. You can see they just are just screwed into wood. The cover plate is the only thing that can be flipped universally regardless of the orientation of the outlet. This is purely a decoration, and would not matter how it was flipped. They are often installed “upside down” now for safety, say something metal were to fall on a plug inserted into a real outlet, it could potentially contact both poles and create havoc, upside down it would only hit the ground. But this is not a real outlet. I was truly wondering where they even got something like this, but I see they have similar things on Amazon. This is wild, a janky cover plate that prevents things from plugging all the way on. Older 15A outlets with ground pointing down were behind the plate that was positioned with the ground pointing up. Me saying the plate was probably upside down was correct.

Whoa!! Screw in middle of outlet, not on plate. Wow! Where did they even get those. Outright made to be fake outlets! … maybe for movie or TV set building?? good reason to break your lease and gth outta there though. So you get all your money back plus some damages for mental pain and anguish. American power sockets and plugs are just an awful flimsy design. Massively unsafe compared to plugs/sockets in other countries. Edit – people downvoting me have obviously never seen what quality plugs from other countries actually look like, I present the UK plug. Note btw, there is a safety fuse inside this plug, as well as one on the switchboard, and don’t even get me started how much better the sockets are.
