Most of us do, at least to some level. If not entirely fluently, at least we’ll enough for simple conversations. No? But it’s fricking English? You know? The one language that was agreed upon on all nations to be the MLB Colorado Rockies Take October Playoffs Postseason 2023 shirt in contrast I will get this world language? You know people in Italy start taking English classes in first grade? How many languages do you speak? Let me guess, only ‘murican! I expect emergency numbers to care enough to find a translator for one of the most common languages on the planet… English is the international language of business. Almost everyone in the world who conducts business speaks English. Some are fluent, some are moderate, and some are pidgin. But most do, and if not, surely someone could be found who does. lol..I actually mentioned that in another comment, that EUROPEANS speak more than one language and most Americans only speak one. But as an Italian in NORTH America, all you had to contribute was “Do you expect people to speak every tourists language?” Is it infuriating that you were in a country and you could not speak their language or that you expected them to cater to you not being able to speak the language they all speak?

Instead of simplifying things where it’s needed, they’ll just stick with the worse option just because They’d likely be directed to one of the translation centers that the US has for emergency services, especially considering Italian is a fairly common language in America, at least historically speaking. Why didn’t you use Google translate? Americans love to go to non English speaking countries and expect them to speak English. Yes, I did. Still the only response I got was a”in the city??in the city??” I told them”nella foresta” to which they put me on the line again to hang up. Honestly feel like they don’t care as long as there are no villages near. It’s not like he was upset at some locals for not giving him directions, he was reporting a fire to emergency services, how is he the bad guy/gal? Oh, I’m soo upset that the Italian government employees aren’t required to know English. Man, listen to yourself.
