I made an appointment to see my doctor, but that was like a month out. During that month, my fits became more regular and intense, almost to the MLB Cincinnati Reds Baseball Team Pink Ribbon Together We Fight 2023 Shirt moreover I love this point of passing out from lack of oxygen because I couldn’t breathe. Again I want to note that they occurred most often and worst when I was at home relaxing: reading, playing wii, trying to sleep, etc. I occasionally had a coughing fit while exercising, but it was infrequent and never nearly as intense. When I finally had my appointment, I started going over symptoms with my doctor, and he latched onto: when I ride my bike I cough a little. He immediately diagnosed me with EXERCISE INDUCED ASTHMA!? And refused to listen to any more arguments from me or my mom. Dude gave me a prescription for an emergency inhaler and told me that I need to reduce my exercise regimen and it should start clearing up, and walked out. In and out of the room in less than 10 minutes and gave me a bullshit fucking diagnosis. Oh, he also refused to listen that my dad’s sister had nearly died from Hodgkins Lymphoma in the mid 80s when she was my age.

I did get another appointment with someone else a couple months later (insurance tried to send me to that same quack multiple times), but by then the MLB Cincinnati Reds Baseball Team Pink Ribbon Together We Fight 2023 Shirt moreover I love this coughing had started to subside, and the doctor that actually ordered tests didn’t find anything out of the ordinary. It took me a couple years before I was able to convince another doctor to remove that diagnosis from my medical record. Since then, I have one hell of a time losing a cough from any minor illness – usually take 4 to 6 weeks after the other symptoms go away, and I get a slight cough after I eat any meal. Oh, and I placed 4th (out of 6) in my age group in the triathlon I was training for that summer. So I dont think it was asthma. I do think it was whooping cough, because that was about the time there were a bunch of new cases in the Bay Area.
