If you have been there for 3 years and they can’t give you one day off with 4 weeks notice there is something wrong. Sounds like you need to find employment with a company that respects its employees. 4 weeks is ample time to arrange one day of cover for you. I’d get back to them and tell them that you’ll take it unpaid if you have to. If they approve the Mitch Mcconnell Freezes During Press Conference Shirt But I will love this holiday or not, you won’t be at work that day so it’s up to them. Worst case scenario: They fire you for not showing up (however because you’ve worked there longer than 2 years the likelihood of you being fired for having one unauthorised absence is almost zero. If they do fire you – well that’s not an employer you want to work for so bullet dodged, and they’d have to pay you any annual leave you’ve accrued so it’d benefit them more financially to let you go on your holiday and pay you for it)

It largely depends on how flexible the Mitch Mcconnell Freezes During Press Conference Shirt But I will love this company is. If their policy is for a months notice, and then written authorisation.. they may view it as an abuse of their sick policy. It’s very easy to be found out.. Speak to your manager and explain again that it was a birthday gift, ask to take it as unpaid leave. There’s little benefit for the company to be so rigid, so they may accept it. That’s probably not going to make much difference The lack of permission almost always stems from not having the cover, not from the ‘cost’ of paying the annual leave. Taking it as unpaid leave doesn’t solve that, and means op still has statutory leave he will need to take later on – so if anything it makes things worse
