No. Age of consent is also about teenagers having sex with each other and being able to consent to that. Making 16 year olds unable to legally consent to sex makes zero sense. Making laws where sex between underage people and adults is punished yes, but there is no reason why 16 year olds shouldn’t have sex with each other. Because it’s gonna happen anyways. I had sex at 16. I definitely consented. Nobody forced or coerced me and my partner was age appropriate. But I didn’t especially WANT to or enjoy it. I did it more because all my friends were. Being open and accepting with your teens about the Minnesota wild outline shirt and I love this choice to wait until they are ready and how to navigate that with their peers can be just as important as the rest of sex education.

Minnesota wild outline shirt, hoodie, tank top, sweater and long sleeve t-shirt

I think the Minnesota wild outline shirt and I love this European and US-American understanding of age of consent vary somehow. I understand it as from that age on the person is able to consent to sex. And that it’s about sex with peers. Because sexual relations between minors and adults are still punishable by law. It’s not like the age of consent is a green card to abuse children. But basically forbidding sex before idk 18 seems like a terrible idea to me. Consent is important and children should be taught that. They are going to have sex regardless. Good step forward but unfortunately it will never be enough to address the real problems. Child abuse is still a major issue here in the US despite our progressive laws in place for decades and unfortunately the issue goes up high in our government and private sector who are part of these abuses. The only change that matters is holding those guilty of these crimes accountable regardless of their status or position everywhere in the world. I strongly suspect that, even though it was 12 on paper, there were other laws in place at the national, provincial, and local level that are more strict so there were few, if any, places where a 12 year old could actually legally consent.
