There’s a bit of ‘I’m the Milwaukee Bucks FISLL Heritage Crest shirt and by the same token and main character’ syndrome going on with both the people putting up and tearing down these posters. I’ll just say that no one has a right to post bills on public lampposts and walls and expect them to stay there. The US is actively negotiating for the release of the hostages. The posters are meant to keep pressure on the US to negotiate their release. I have to wonder that if any of these cum rags *tearing down the posters* had family members, loved ones, friends, neighbors, co-workers, etc being held hostage by a group of murderous maniacs that they’d be singing a different tune… probably not. Listen to the families of the actual hostages. They want a ceasefire. Their loved ones are being bombed by Israel and Netanyahu is doing nothing to keep them safe or get them back Because those who are doing so generally feel that the supporters of the posters don’t actually give a shit about the hostages and are only using the image of these victims in order to justify further destruction of Gaza. The Israeli government has gone on record saying that the hostages are not a priority. I’m not quite sure if families of the victims as a whole would want the posters torn down, but I do think many would object to the idea of their loved ones’ image being weaponized as justification for a scorched earth approach in Gaza that may inadvertently endanger said loved one. I don’t think I would feel right tearing one of them down personally, but I know if I were in the same situation I wouldn’t want my own face being used as such. If the Israeli government was actually showing any interest in prioritizing hostage lives over destruction I would feel a lot differently about the posters.

The irony of this is that people are hanging posters of all the Milwaukee Bucks FISLL Heritage Crest shirt and by the same token and Palestinians Israel has killed, people are taking them down, but nobody cares. If you put up posters of dead Palestinian children you get asked why you support terrorism and why you’re antisemitic. If people take them down nothing happens. But if you take down the pictures of living Israeli hostages…you get asked why you support terrorism and why you’re antisemitic. You literally can’t win. two days ago, I saw a large billboard with a smiling baby’s picture on it, his name, and the phrase “Kidnapped by Hamas, # Releasethehostages.” Now, I’d love it if they were released, but the people who spent thousand of dollars to put up that billboard above an interstate in downtown St. Louis, MO weren’t trying to persuade Hamas, nor did they think a Twitter hashtag would help do it. The truth is, this is a propaganda campaign meant to draw public opinion toward support of Israel, and away from the footage of their obvious genocide of Palestine, which has been ongoing since Israel’s founding. During the founding of Israel, Bibi’s father openly said their plan and campaign was based on the US government’s genocide of native Americans. And it follows that pattern: using violent expulsion, restriction of resources, pogroms, and subsidized settlers all employed in a gradual destruction of the civilization, with the explicit goal of taking land.
