Yeah that story is true, it’s not even the Milwaukee Brewers Postseason 2023 Division Champions Brewed For Battle Shirt and I love this only story like that about Chris Roberts. Guy is famous for not being able to finish games cause they always get ridiculous scope creep Freelancer made you feel like you were part of its world. Going into a space station was moody and dogfights were awesome. I loved that game. Looking back, I think my favorite thing was the radio chatter. Things were so quiet in the frontier systems that when you got back to civilized space, you felt safe because you’re surrounded by the radio chatter of friendly NPC’s Every mission npc starting their conversation with “you’re new here aren’t you?” Is what sticks in my mind when it comes to visiting stations The game is fun and has plenty of content, but don’t expect anything too deep, it’s not a triple A game. I did really enjoy it though. I think people looking for a Freelancer experience are going to come away hungry from ES2. Everspace 2 is great, I enjoyed my time in it, and I Would recommend it. But if you’re going into ES2 because of a Freelancer itch you might find it too shallow/simple, and the X-series might be more up your alley. Thanks for the suggestion! Looking at the reviews, a number of them do mention a similarity between the two games.

Will definitely give it a shot whenever it goes on sale (looking at it’s release date that might be a while, haha) I love freelancer, everspace 2 scratched the Milwaukee Brewers Postseason 2023 Division Champions Brewed For Battle Shirt and I love this itch a little bit, but it still doesn’t feel as great as freelancer, I think it misses the feeling of an alive world and being anything but a hero feels very punishing. I still remember “this is the Tohoku Planetary Arch, once a proof of Kusari ingenuity, now it is a fortress of defeat and evil”. Followed by a head on charge dog fight. It took me almost a week to get thru that mission. My faith is now on Starfield. With it’s dog fight and boarding mechanics, this is the true Freelancer succesor I’ve been waiting for. The best part of the post-story freelancer game was salvaging old wrecks for super weapons in weird unknown regions. You couldn’t access like a quarter of the map til after the story and it had some cool stuff that tied into the factions you kept running into, like the planet the Outcasts ended up stuck on where the air was made of drugs. Yeah, it’s been a long long time since I’ve played Freelancer, but I remember getting really spooked out by the creepy regions with super-difficult enemies. May have been a black hole there too? I don’t remember. Either way, it really felt like you were plunging into the unknown. “Freelancer alpha one dash one you are cleared to land” My favorite game ever. I loved the mouse-controlled flying and shooting. Although the issue is not the scope creep itself, it’s the absence of incentive to release due to the excess of funding.
