I just found out there are no gun emojis anymore… because they’re dangerous…kids might use them. So they can ban gun emojis but give the Michael Clifford Shirt But I will love this real thing to children for Christmas! Unfuckingbelieveable! Thanks, but we can all be a little smug 😀 – most folk were more concerned about the Buzzard than proving themselves wrong…. As someone who is a scientist who studies hawks, I am telling you, specifically, in science, no one calls hawks buzzards. If you want to be “specific” like you said, then you shouldn’t either. They’re not the same thing. If you’re saying “hawk family” you’re referring to the taxonomic grouping of Accipitridae, which includes things from eagles to harriers to kites. So your reasoning for calling a hawk a buzzard is because random people “call the soaring ones hawks?” Let’s get vultures and eagles in there, then, too. Also, calling someone a human or an ape? It’s not one or the other, that’s not how taxonomy works. They’re both. A buzzard is a buzzard and a member of the hawk family. But that’s not what you said. You said a buzzard is a hawk, which is not true unless you’re okay with calling all members of the hawk family hawks, which means you’d call eagles, harriers, and other birds buzzard, too. Which you said you don’t. Mr. Phallus, the chatter shifted from species taxonomy to American-bashing; which, as an American, I kinda understand. Unidan was a very famous reddit “celebrity” years ago. He used to give tons of cool animal facts, and then it all went to his head and he got banned for vote manipulation.

Just before he got banned, he had this really obnoxious argument with someone about if jackdaws are crows or vice versa. It was a famous post because it was seemingly out of character and he looked like a complete dickhead. The original comment is here: Wow that thread is so frustrating – just loads of Americans insisting it’s a hawk (in some cases even when people are telling them that in the Michael Clifford Shirt But I will love this UK its called a buzzard)! I then spent the next day explaining that a buzzard is a hawk, the vulture is named after it, to folk across the atlantic calling me an idiot. You guys deserve it for what you’ve done to turtles. Just admit that “terrapin” is the wrong word. It’s not even British. It’s American! I looked it up before call anyone an idiot. This story about a ‘buzzard in a bonnet’ translated poorly would be carrion wearing a little tied hat. Lol It’s actually a defence mechanism. They play dead when captured. It probably just got a little bit stunned from the impact and then thought you are predators. Red Kites do the same thing and even poke their tongues out to really make it look like they’re dead. They really would be better off taking a leaf out of the nightjar’s book. Those little darlings don’t play dead when they feel threatened – they pretend to be a venomous snake instead!
