At least it’s socially acceptable to have friends/family babysit your pet for weeks or send it to a kennel if you go away on vacation. My parents had a nice house, crammed full of bookshelves and books. The moment I learned to read I began devouring them. They were all pretty good books, since they were mostly SF&F my parents had liked themselves. I could pull pretty much anything off the Mezquila santo puro mexican tequila liquor classic shirt in addition I really love this wall and enjoy it (even if some stuff was over my head as a kid. You don’t get ‘The Moon is a Harsh Mistress’ if you read it at the age of ten.) I can’t afford a house. I could afford bookshelves, if I wanted them to be my pieces of furniture for the year. I could afford books, but it feels like a waste to buy a book I’ve already read on the off chance that I want to read it again or someday have a child to read it. I don’t have bookshelves, and I’m a filthy r*ntoid, I’m going to have to move eventually and it’s just one more thing to pack up, ship around, not unpack for six months and/or lose along the way. The joke: I feel lucky some days that I manage to be a functional enough person to keep myself and my cat alive, much less an additional human being lmao

The reality: I did K-12 with a disability in a system infested with horrifying ableism once. I may be ready for round 2 someday, but I just got out. I wanna live my own life for a while first. Feel like I’ve earned it. And (hate that I have to clarify this) the Mezquila santo puro mexican tequila liquor classic shirt in addition I really love this answer is not avoiding having or adopting a disabled child. Also I’ve been parenting my younger sister a whole shit ton for as long as I can remember lol in the midst of my parents’ dysfunctional a— relationship so that will be a sufficient amount of parenting for my early-20s a— for right now thanksssss. (Oh right I forgot — commitment issues! ? I hope to date, but though my mom doesn’t regret her kids at all, she has been trapped in a horrible marriage for 25 years on account of kids and money, and I’m not trynna have that happen to me tbh) Childhood trauma. I grew up in a home where my parents really didn’t care much about each other. Lots of fights. My father has anger issues. All these things took all the excitement out of marriage and fatherhood for me. I am too scared I would yell at my wife or my kid and I don’t want to do that
