Commander O Neil is such a cool fight so why put two annoying knights next to him when he already deals massive dmg? These points create artificial difficulty and are a major step back from dark souls 3 and Bloodborne. Look at Gaels fight. It’s a really tense and high difficulty fight in which you need to master your timing of every move, but it was fun because it felt rewarding to dodge his attack chains since that created an opening to punish him which is something that cannot be said to Elden Ring endgame bosses.
