You absolutely have control over your actions, inaction or choosing whatever. That’s on you. You can control your thoughts, with practice. This is one of those topics that we know so little about. We don’t know how “brains” in bugs work let alone how anything about how ours work. Also, the Metallica Wings Washington Capitals Logo Shirt Additionally,I will love this topic of free will is also largely outside of meditation imo and I think any discussion about this type of thing should be discussed over in r/philosophy instead using more rigorous argumentation Mmm, tricky subject. I’m still new to meditation, but I’ll give my two cents on the free will thing. We can influence our unconscious thoughts, not exactly control them. The weird ones that we don’t think about intentionally are controlled by choosing to give power to them or not. Our conscious self, who we are and NOT the ego, has intentional thoughts. Problem solving thoughts, answers to questions that require some thought, and so on. It’s a slippery slope to say we have no control of our actions. Yes, we have unconscious actions like breathing, walking, chewing and swallowing. The issue is when certain behaviors become unconscious. Like eating junk food excessively, engaging in mindless sex, drugs, reacting with anger to others, etc. Unconscious thoughts drive those actions. BUT, if we have awareness of those thoughts before acting, we are back in control. We can then determine if we actually think our impulse is a good idea or not.

That being said, who’s to say that us being aware of our thoughts is free will? Maybe we are wired to dance back and forth between awareness and lack of awareness, so it’s again out of our hands and we don’t have free will. See what I mean? I don’t think we will ever know for sure, but being aware of one’s thoughts and actions typically leads to a better life. You still make decisions regardless of it it’s how your wired or not. Don’t worry about free will and do your best to act with integrity, regardless of if you think your actions are predetermined or not. You see, when a lot of things that have similar characteristics and functions get together, sometimes they start outputting more information than the Metallica Wings Washington Capitals Logo Shirt Additionally,I will love this sum of its parts would be able to on its own.
